Fictional Books Series To Travel The World From Your Bedroom

Updated: Sep 5, 2021

Everyone loves a good fictional book to escape the monotonous existence of our reality. Here are some books to do just that.

This blog post contains a list of some of my favourite fictional books. Hope you love them as much as I do!

The Land Of Stories

This book series just reminds me of the good old days, when I would wait anxiously for the mail to bring the next book in the series to my doorstep. Everything about these books is gorgeous, from the descriptions, to the plot, to the cover! (I even tried to draw the cover once, I mean look at it, it's stunning. The drawing didn't end well though)

Chris Colfer really put his own spin on things, reimagining timeless classics into modern stories with fresh ideas to fit today's world. The plot of the book keeps you on your toes with betrayals and surprising twists, giving you a new perspective on old fairy tales and showing you sides of both heroes and villians you didn't even know existed.

The Keeper Of The Lost Cities

Oh my god, this series-

One of my childhood favourites for sure. Apart from the plot being simply amazing, the main character, Sophie Foster is such a strong and independent young woman who is not perfect in any way, but still helps save the world.

This books portray friendship, bravery and sacrifices as Sophie find out she's not quite human in classic Harry Potter/ Percy Jackson fashion, fitting in great with that genre of books so if you liked those, then KotLC is a must read. As of today,2021, the series is still being written and fans wait anxiously across the world to see what the author Shannon Messenger does next. The wait is definitely worth it.

The Divergent Trilogy

A step up from The Land Of Stories and Keeper of The Lost Cities, The Divergent Trilogy is a great read for slightly older readers and teens. A dystopian fantasy, the books follow Tris Prior as she uncovers secrets about her past and realises her role in changing society. Filled with suspense I don't recommend starting this book if you don't have a lot of time in your hands- I can guarantee you won't be able to put it down.

The trilogy is comprised of three books, Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegent. All three books were absolutely amazing, making me love Veronica Roth's writing, and making me hate her at the same time.

Spoiler alert: this book will leave you in tears

The Mortal Instruments

Cassandra Clare is evil. Know what you're getting into when you start this series, you've been warned.

These books kept me reading everyday for approximately 8 hours a day, everyday for an entire week that was my New Years break. Clary Fray finds out she's not normal- you know the drill.

Still, an outstanding lead, the plot twists being simple and obvious but still things I'd somehow missed completely. This book had my stomach hurting with laughter, and my eyes overflowing with tears. I don't think that many people even died, it's just what the characters had to go through.

This series has everything, humour, plot twists, deaths, romance, all blended together seamlessly as the book changes point of views between characters.

A MUST READ.

That's all for now, i'll keep updating the list as I discover more incredible books.

Bon Voyage!
